  • Arlington Charities was chosen to be in the 2023 Light the World Giving Machine!
  • The Taste Project has graduated 61 Certified Fundamentals Cooks from our Culinary Job Training Program thanks in part to Texas Health Resources and Tarrant County American Rescue Plan Act Funds. Their apprentices are now working in kitchens all over Fort Worth including: the Worthington Renaissance Fort Worth Hotel, The Fort Worth Club, Petroleum Club of Fort Worth, Lockheed Martin (Compass Group USA), Shady Oaks Country Club, Texas Health Resources, and many others. 
  • Meals on Wheels, Inc. Of Tarrant County – Facility Expansion Project 
  • The Big Lots Foundation – $4,500 grant to provide food to families staying in our emergency domestic violence shelters – SafeHaven of Tarrant County
  • SafeHaven of Tarrant County –  innovative project to tackle the housing crisis domestic violence survivors face when leaving shelter. UnityHomes is a 3D-printed housing development in Austin, TX. Costing under $90,000, the 380 sqf house was designed in partnership with survivors in our two emergency domestic violence shelters. Gracie Broom and Magdalena Garibaldi initiated the research and design, piloting a tiny homes workshop in Brooklyn, before traveling to conduct interviews, workshops and shadowing at our two shelters to inform the design decisions.

    •  Annual Glass Slipper Boutique! The boutique will be open on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come and browse the large selection of NEW and almost new dresses, shoes, and accessories, try them on, and even take pictures with our fabulous GSB backdrop.

United Hands Relief

Impact for essential aid for Gaza.

  • 4 trucks have rolled out, delivering 88 pallets of 25kg flour bags, fueling daily meals and hope.
  • 5 trucks have pitched in, bringing 500 tents with tarps to provide a safe haven for displaced families.
  • 6 trucks have transported 9,500 food parcels, packed with essential nutrients to sustain lives.
  • 1 truck made a splash with 5,000 bottles of clean drinking water, a lifeline for good health.
  • To fend off the chill, they’ve dispatched 2,320 mattresses and 400 blankets, wrapping those affected in comfort and care.

Something to be on the lookout for: Community Awards including lifetime of service award, racial equity civic engagement award, etc.

  • Dancing with the Arlington Starts – May 6th – Derrick Kinney chose Arlington Life Shelter as his charity of choice
  • DFW Nonprofit Resources Expo – June 18th – The Friends of OS Gray Natural Area – Community Days occur on the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9am – noon 
  • @utacappa A University of Tis collaborating with the Housing Channel of Fort Worth, the city of Arlington and MKG Homes to build four houses in east Arlington that will be available for lease to seniors. (unsure if this is nonprofit associated)
